On the 2nd and 23rd September, Basingstoke Canal have organized a guided Bat Walk for anyone interested in learning more about the bats that live on Canal. There will be a talk by Canal Ranger, Paul Hope and you will be able to use bat detectors, booking is essential and cost £3.50 per person, contact the Canal Visitor Centre, Mytchett. When I first went into The Jolly Miller, this lovely lady gave me a great welcome – before she knew that I was anything to do with the pub and she made me feel very comfortable. She’s been at The Jolly Miller for quite a while (did she really say something like ten years!) along with her big smile.

A lof of pubs in the West of Englnd have the old style bowling alleys – though today there are sadly less than there used to be. In Warnborough, Hook in Hampshire, we’re unusual in being relatively easterlywhere there are less leagues and less players in “these here parts” than further West.

So why don’t you and a group of freinds use the alley of  night.  Run a tournament.  bring enough friends to make it worth our while and you get to use the alley for FREE.
